bpadgett 0 Posted May 13, 2000 Just installed win2k dx8 beta. At first it DID NOT fix the problem. Upon closer examination through dxdiag I noticed that many of the dx files were not being replaced, such as dsound.dll and dinput. I tryed manually replacing the files by a straight copy. The OS would claim that the files were copied but after looking at version numbers and sizes it was apparent that they were not. Solution: I installed dx8 executable. Installed all inf's through explorer. Files still were not replaced. Rebooted into SAFE MODE... Manually copied all files from dx8 zip (the place I got the stuff from had an .exe AND a zip file) file into winnt/system32... Rogue Spear works like a champ now... Don't know if frame rates are better yet but it's playable, which is good for me because I have a p3c-2000 which works flawlessly in w2k but in 98 crashes all the time...
