new newbie for linux, help with 878TV Card and Suprat modem

Hi, i only installed linux today the 2nd time i gave the operating system a go, did try redhat before, but this is mandrake 9.1, first off my tv card hasnt worked for 2yrs because of XP being incpaable of useing it, i installed driver and xp kept restarting itself, but fortunately mandrake found the card during install, i was surprised to see it pop up, but being new to linux aint got a clue how to use it or anything on the OS really lol, and i need help with my SupraSST Pro DF 2850, i cant get online with Linux therefore i cant try the scan modem, please help and be gentle bill gates has warped my fragile mind lol
