tristan777 0 Posted May 13, 2000 ok i get this high pitched scratchy sort of noise in ut all the time. it just started a while ago and i cant get it to go away. i didnt switch drivers or anything... i have been using the liveware! for win2k drivers, which suck but at least i had clear sound for a while. i tried reinstalling the drivers. i dont know what else to do... badboy 0 Posted May 14, 2000 I had the same problem. To play the game without this horrible crackling sound you have to disable multispeakers in the creative AudioHQ speakers and set it back to two speakers. Also in UT go to options tab / preferances disable direct 3D sound and surround sound then it was ok. The next time you play try enabling four speakers again from the creative AudioHQ speakers but dont touch any of the UT direct 3D sound or surround sound see how you go. This a problem which the makers of UT know about the game is geared more towards Aureal A3D sound cards. Share this post Link to post
tristan777 0 Posted May 14, 2000 multispeaker is disabled. i only have 2 speakers + sub. and now i'm getting the same problem in ultima online, though it's not as bad.... Share this post Link to post
CUViper 0 Posted May 15, 2000 ok badboy.... if it's a problem with UT and not the drivers, then why does it work in win98 just fine? also, enabling 4 speakers in the audiohq is only useful if you actually have 4 speakers! I have a 2 speaker + sub setup as well, and i would like to get the emulated surround sound that eax offers, like i do in 98. Share this post Link to post
badboy 0 Posted May 15, 2000 Have look at this web site under known issues http://unreal.epicgames.com/ Share this post Link to post
CUViper 0 Posted May 15, 2000 I don't see anything on that page about eax or sblive.... in fact, the known issues page talks about issues with 405b, when 413 is the latest version. The only audio entry says that a3d can slow down performance... Share this post Link to post
CUViper 0 Posted May 15, 2000 Sorry, I don't mean to attack you. You made it sound like there was something on that page that I was missing.... no harm done Share this post Link to post
badboy 0 Posted May 15, 2000 Just trying to help you guys out and I never realised that you only had two speakers as you say the problem is probably down to liveware more than anything else. It was unfortunate that I had the same problem but with a bit of messing about I managed to fix it. I still have four speakers enabled but no more crackling noises but no surround sound either. I know what you saying about having surround enabled perhaps we will get it when liveware 3 is avaliable any day now !!! P.S Do you know if the sound issue was fixed in 413 ! CUViper 0 Posted May 15, 2000 No, the 3d sound is still messed up in 413. I'm almost positive it's a problem with the drivers though, not the game, because other games do the exact same thing to me...... Share this post Link to post
