Aegeas 0 Posted May 24, 2000 I just downloaded and installed the new patch. The patch DOES NOT fix starting either a dedicated or interactive multiplayer game on Win2k. Most often it just exits back to the desktop. PLAY HARD. Share this post Link to post
tamarelle 0 Posted May 24, 2000 Hello, I'm new to this forum, hope you don't mind if I ask you where you got this new patch for HL.... I can't find it anyplace! Share this post Link to post
LM 0 Posted May 24, 2000 I don't see it at anywhere either...I think 1.1.0.0 is still nonexistent at this point Share this post Link to post
yakkob 0 Posted May 24, 2000 I think you will find the new patch is 1.5 actually. Share this post Link to post
wlightn 0 Posted May 24, 2000 I found it out on the usenet, and I uploaded it to Aegeas. For those who want to find it on the web, here's a link..There are several more, but the moderators of the Counter-Strike Forum deleted the post. http://www.visper.net/ Share this post Link to post
Exorcist 0 Posted May 24, 2000 I agree, I assume it's a close to release build, if not the final build (dated 15/5) - after downloading it (finally, it took ages from that sloooooooow site). Very nice it is to, the in-game menus look much, much better Speaking of version numbers, the patch "is" actually 1.1.0.0. The version of TFC included is 1.5. -Ex- Share this post Link to post
tamarelle 0 Posted May 25, 2000 I downloaded the patch, in zip form, and then unzipped it to a neutral folder, awaiting an exe file or something. How do I install this patch? Do I merely unzip it into the Half Life/Valve folder or what? Sorry to be so dumb. Thanks Tamara Share this post Link to post
Exorcist 0 Posted May 25, 2000 Do you have several zip files? - once those are extracted to a new dir you end up with filenames like 10161100.001, 10161100.002, etc? If that's the case (and it was with mine) just use WinRAR (www.rarsoft.com) to unpack it to create the 10161100.exe updater. Then just run the program to install the update Should be just over 20 megs. -Ex- Share this post Link to post
tamarelle 0 Posted May 26, 2000 Hey thank you, Exorcist! I downloaded winjar and I love it! I then found the other files, and created an exe file just as you said. All went perfectly, except that won.net won't let me play multiplayer anymore because it says my executable is "out of date" or then it says I'm using a different "protocol"...... LOL..... Maybe it will work after the patch is disseminated to the masses? Perhaps Won just doesn't recognize my patch yet. Share this post Link to post
yakkob 0 Posted May 26, 2000 You should have made a backup of your Sierra Directory first. Then 'patched' one of them to 1.5 just so you could check the differences LOCALLY. You will not be able to join servers who have not had the Server Side patch of 1.1.0.0 All the servers are still using 1.0.1.6, because 1.1.0.0 ain't released yet. So you have 2 options, either wait until the patch is official. Or reinstall HL, if you can't wait (prolly a week away). Heh.. Share this post Link to post
Exorcist 0 Posted May 26, 2000 I think it was originally meant to be out yesterday, or today. However, I think Valve for some reason decided to change that, so I think the new release date is next Tuesday...just hear say though. I don't play online at the moment, so I'm just using it to get a feel for the new stuff. -Ex- Share this post Link to post
