Mr Furious 0 Posted June 3, 2000 How come all games (Half Life, Midtown Madness, Close Combat IV) run too fast under Windows 2000? I still get the same frame rate on time demos in Half-Life, but it's just too fast to play! I've only got a K6-III 450, Voodoo 3 3000 and 128MB, not some funky Athlon 1GHz-GeForce 2 combo! Toby 0 Posted June 4, 2000 Hi ! I had the same problem, Win2k has detected your CPU-speed to only half the real speed. (check in system information) The only way to fix this is to reinstall Win2k, and during setup (when you get the option F6 for SCSI bla bla..) press F5 and choose STANDARD PC. I got this working with my Gigabyte GA-5AX Mainboard, AMD K6III~400.. Good luck ! // Toby Share this post Link to post

Mr Furious 0 Posted June 5, 2000 Yes, I noticed the CPU thing. TestCPU (a little freeware program)also quotes my CPU speed as 225MHz. I'm going to try the reinstall now. Thanks for the advice! Share this post Link to post
Mr Furious 0 Posted June 6, 2000 Yes! The reinstall works just fine. I now get 70FPS in Half-Life as opposed to 50 under Win98. Thanks Toby! Share this post Link to post
