KenL 0 Posted June 25, 2000 I have just changed out my motherboard from a Asus K7V w/750MHZ AMD to a Asus P3V4X w/600mhz Intel. Clean installs of W2K each time, same hardware. Has anyone had problems with installing games on the AMD platform. Quake & Quake II would install, but not their mission packs. Had video driver problems w/Geforce II & Via chip sets. I could not use the 5.xx drivers at all, I had to stay with the 3.xx or I would not see my W2K startup screen again. I changed over to the Intel board with no problems at all. JediBaron 0 Posted June 26, 2000 My guess would be that you've had problems with the hardware configs. That's the only probable reason why you wouldn't be able to install those mission packs. The K7V has A LOT of different configs compaired to the Intel boards. First make sure that you have the newest BIOS. Their BIOS is still evolving relatively fast so having the newest is pretty important. Next, you should have is both the hardware identify patch and AGP patch for Via chipsets installed (win2k versions available at Via's site) Third, the K7V is capable of 133+mhz FSB. If you have it set to 133mhz make sure you have PC133 to back it up. Otherwise you should go back to 100mhz. Hope that helps Share this post Link to post
