oshie 0 Posted July 13, 2000 Diablo 2 works fine under 2000 with LW3, however it seems to pause for a few seconds every hour or so. Has anyone else notice this? Share this post Link to post
STi Sev 0 Posted July 14, 2000 DAMMIT i get the sluggest problem too AND my 800mhz K7 Athlon Freezes too Its VERY annoying.. Ahh well waiting for blizzard 1.03 patch Share this post Link to post
billimek 0 Posted July 14, 2000 I have the same thing happen to me. But I assumed it's a 'normal' part of the game. Actually, I assumed it was yet another side effect of battle.net's less than 'stellar' performance. I think I remember having those 'pauses' before I got Liveware 3. Can anyone confirm or dispute this?? Share this post Link to post
Bursar 0 Posted July 14, 2000 I can't confirm or deny anything, but one to add is: Avery now and then Diablo II saves the game state, so it could just be that that is what's happening when your machine pauses. My machine also pauses briefly every now and then. ------------------ PIII 650 Coppermine Intel 440BX-2 Motherboard 2x128MB PC 100 RAM Maxtor 92049U6 20.4GB 7200RPM UDMA66 Maxtor 52049U4 20.4GB 7200RPM UDMA66 Matrox Millenium G400 MAX Sony DDU220E IDE DVD-ROM Yamaha CRW4416S SCSI CD-RW Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer USB Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Pro US Robotics Sportster Flash v90 External modem Iiyama Vision Master Pro 17 3Com EtherLink XL PCI (3c900B Combo) Adaptec 2940 Ultra Wide SCSI controller Sound Blaster Live! Iasius 0 Posted July 15, 2000 I get those pauses, too. Problem is though, I am usually in a big fight when that happens, when it's over, my Necro is usually dead I havent dl'ed Liveware 3.0, yet so it's (probably) not caused by that. ------------------ My system specs: PIII 600E @ 800 , 160mb PC100 3-3-3, Creative GeForce DDR, SBLive (never had any problems with it, yet. BladeRunner 0 Posted July 16, 2000 No I'm not trying to start a 'my graphics card is better than yours' argument, but.... Please look at the connection here. Everybody running an NVidia card of any description is having problems. 3DFX users aren't, but that's because Glide is supported. Other cards (OK, I know there not as 'good' as the NVidia cards) aren't having problems. NVidia posted something in an FAQ about turning off FSAA when running Diablo2. ------------------ PIII 650 Coppermine, ABit BE6-II, 384MB PC100 RAM (Samsung), Matrox G400MAX, SB Live! jdulmage 0 Posted July 17, 2000 well, I have seen it pause in Windows 98 and Windows Millennium..I can tell you, it's your installation of Diablo and the installation of Windows. Cause when it was pausing like this on my system. I just reinstalled Windows 2000 (or Windows 98/ME, whichever) it ran fine after that Share this post Link to post
Bing 0 Posted July 17, 2000 Check out the FAQ on Blizzard's website. I was getting anoyed with a similar problem and it was just my cd-rom drive changing tracks. You can copy the music file from the "play" cd to your d2 install dir. to solve this problem. Preacher 0 Posted July 18, 2000 Bing I´m wondering why my system (W2k, what else?) has some heavy harddrive activity in the middle of a big fight. Can´t be the soundfiles because I left them on the CD. Can´t be insufficent RAM ´cause I´ve got 256 MB. Excuse me if my english isn´t the best today, I´ve just finished Act 2, completely played through Act 3 and started with Act 4. Guess I need a well... erm, bed now Share this post Link to post
Iasius 0 Posted July 18, 2000 I had those pauses occuring quite frequently before I added 64mb to a total of 224mb RAM to my system (had to switch to 600E again because of the 8ns RAM... I wonder... My PC66-10ns Hyundai RAM works fine with 133 MHz). I don't know why that changed it because I never have/had HDD accesses during the pauses, but I'm fine now ___ Just beat Diablo 2nd time, first with a Necro, now with a Barbarian. BTW: Playing Multiplayer with 2 Sorceresses sucks: One casts a lot of Meteor, the other one Blizzard and I can't see anything anymore. If I'm lucky I'm not dead afterwards .... . ------------------ My system specs: PIII 600E @ 800 , 160mb PC100 3-3-3, Creative GeForce DDR, SBLive (never had any problems with it, yet. Bing 0 Posted July 18, 2000 Preacher: even with my system I do get some some hard drive "thrashing". I even got an out of vitual memory message last night while playing. It was not true (I had plenty of VM and real RAM free), but it displayed the message and my HDD started to freak out. The thing is it only happens to me after I have been running the game for a while, so it makes me thing there is a memory leak or some other kind of resource managment problem. wildspukie 0 Posted July 26, 2000 Hello there, I had the same problems, but it is not LiveWare 3! I used the Win2k built in drivers with Diablo2 and I had the same problem. Then I decided to switch from D3D to DirectDraw 2D and now it works fine! I've beaten Diablo now for 3 times and the problem came never up again. It's your 3D Accelerator card: I tested 3 Boards: ATI RagePro nVidia Riva TNT S3 Savage2000 They all work fine in DDraw, but in D3D there is a heavy loading activity while playing the game. I think it is a buggy driver. I tested different AGP Aperture size settings: it didn't help. Share this post Link to post
