Quake 3 Sound

I am having a problem with Quake 3. Whenever I try to play Q3 the sound dosent work, and when I go back to the desktop sound still dosent work.I am running Win2k Pro and my hardware is as follows.

Abit KT7-Raid

Athlon 800

256 Megs RAM

Geforce 2 (6.27 drivers)

Monster MX300 Sound

 

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Well first did you download the W2k drivers from http://www.aureal.com ? Since Aureal went out of business and was sold to Creative they haven't updated their drivers in quite a while. Unfortuneatly, your card is in limbo and I hope that the latest drivers from Aureal do the trick or you are out of luck. Try turning off A3D support in Q3 and hope for the best.

www.vortexofsound.com has excellent driver sets and installation info for the MX300. I was able to get mine up and running quite nicely. However, they are buggy, and a WDM release is supposed to be in the works.
