Win2k + Sidewinder 4.0 = Wont Shut Down

I bought a Sidewinder Pro USB yesterday and I installed the Sidewinder 4.0 software that came with it so i could enable and disable proportional control. Now I know it says a message about not being tested with Windows 2000 but the software functions great excpet for one problem, my computer wont shut down or restart. Anyone know a fix?

How have you installed your Software??? I am logged as an Admin but this crap always says that I must have Admin-Rights to install SW4.0

I have the solution for you, remove the software. Also it will shutdown, i had this same problem, just leave it alone once you click on shut down and watch it. After about 5 minutes or more the system will slowly shutdown. It annoyed the hell outta me so bye bye software. Anyone know if they put out an update for it?

I also have the same problem. Is it possible to uninstall the software without removing the drivers, thereby avoiding losing full functionality of the device. If so, how.

I had the same problem. As another poster said, removal of the software will fix the problem, but you lose full functionality.

 

My solution, remove the software, box up the controller and take it back to where I boughtit for a refund.

 

Still hunting for a fully functional game comtroller under Win2k...the quest continues...

How did you get the software to install, the Sidewinder 4.0 software fails to load on my systme.

After i put in the CD the installation program gives me a message about not being tested on Windows 2000. After I say Yes or Ok or what ever the message says the software installed with no problem.

Does anyone know if the 4.0 will work with the Precision Pro? And does anyone know where to dl the 4.0 drivers?

After having had some GP3 steering wheel problems with the gameport version of the MS FF Wheel, I tried to get an update 4.0 version of the software, but the only way is to buy a new USB version MS product. After buying the USB version of the MS FF wheel, I installed the 4.0 software without any problems on my computer (execpt of the "not tested" message). The wheel can be configured as needed and the computer starts and shuts down normally, no problems at all so far!
