To help fulfill the needs of consumers who want powerful, high capacity storage that also has to be aesthetically pleasing, Hitachi created their Touro line of external hard drive. The largest and fastest of these models is the Touro Desk Pro, which combines (up to) a 3TB 3.5" 7200-rpm hard drive with a case that is both elegant and sophisticated in design. Does the Hitachi Tour Desk Pro have what it takes to compete against the likes of Seagate, Western Digital, LaCie and others in this hotly contested market niche? Verdict:

While not the fastest in all scenarios, the Hitachi Touro Desk Pro 3TB is still extremely powerful. This great performance coupled with its great looks will make it a very good option for many consumers. Just do not expect much from its rather basic software suite.

 

The Good:

+ Ventilation slits in case for increased passive cooling

+ Massive capacity

+ Easy to use software

+ Very good performance

+ Reasonable price

 

The Bad:

- Rudimentary software bundle

- No power switch

- Large footprint
