Thief gold & Install problem

Can't install Thief gold on win2k pro.

 

Get the error message that the game is not NT compatible. Tried with apcompat but that doesn't help.

 

Config.

Win2k pro SP1

Oct compat update

500 MHZ

256 MB Sdram

20 gb IBM

3dfx Vodoo 3

 

Everywhere I look I find that the game should work under win2k.

 

Is there a trick I don't know about.
