Weird problem with win2k & Half-Life

Recommended Posts

I installed Windows 2000 professional to my computer using NTFS. I play very much Half-Life MODs like TFC and CS. Now, the game itself works fine. But during the game or when I close the game, it disconnects my ISDN connection! Weird? My ISDN card is Terton 128 PCI and I installed the newest win2k drivers for it.

Please help me!

make sure in your internet explorer under tools..internet options..connections..settings..advanced...that the box is not checked that says disconnect when connection is not in use. this may be your problem.

My problem with Half-Life was not caused by the game itself. The problem is the Sierra Setup. It completly destroyed/erased my "Games"-Folder. Well, I am not a CS-Freak, so it's not that bad, but man I hate this Sierra Setup ... wink

Thanks for help oldspice, but that box wasn't checked... frown I really can't understand what's in it. My friend has ISDN and plays Half-Life, but it's working fine for him..

Insertion to my first post: When it disconnects me, it won't let me connect again without a restart and says: "Modem has reported an error".

Nobody really knows about this problem?? confused

I would try finding older drivers for your card or try re-downloading or re-installing the drivers for your card. I use a USR Sportster 128k isdn card and play every game imaginable online and have never had trouble. You might have to locate all the .dll's and delete the inf file. If it turned off at random times I would guess a hardware or phone connection problem but since you have stated that the connection drops when you close the game I am inclined to think it is a software issue. My drivers for my isdn card have corrupted themselves for no apparent reason before, so try re-installing or using different drivers for your card and also try setting up your dial-up connection again.A fresh connection.Hope this might help, although you have probably tried this already.
