MartyBarty 0 Posted January 21, 2001 Here's the mighty problem. Hidden and Dangerous works in W2K if you run it while logged in as Administrator, but if you try to run it as anyone else, regardless of user access level, it stops, saying it can't find the CD. This is a load of crap, as the option to play the game came from the Autorun feature of the CD. I'm thinking maybe somewhere deep inside W2K there is a file permissions problem, but can't find anything. Anyone have any ideas? ------------------ There was an error processing this directive. CUViper 0 Posted January 21, 2001 I don't have that game, but i would guess that it's trying to modify parts of the registry that you don't have access to as a non-admin. For example, if it stores entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, instead of HKEY_CURRENT_USER, you can only make changes there if you're an admin. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.... What could a Power User account be doing to prevent it even seeing the CD Drive? ------------------ There was an error processing this directive. Share this post Link to post
MartyBarty 0 Posted January 21, 2001 Hey wait, I've though of something else. Is there any way for me to up permissions a notch further from Power User so it's even closer to Administrator? Just in the File access permissions etc to see if the CD drive suddenly becomes visible? ------------------ There was an error processing this directive. Share this post Link to post
Wolf87 0 Posted January 29, 2001 C-Dilla License Management System does not use standard driver name and it fails in Windows 2000. This patch fixes it for Windows 2000: http://www.daemon-tools.com/Scripts/countdown.pl?CDilla_LMS_Fix_101.zip Share this post Link to post
lexluthor 0 Posted January 30, 2001 the only complaint i would have about win2k is the permission structure i work in user mode to limit my exposure to outside hackers and viruses. but i did run into the same type of problem in some apps/games... this was my workaround. add the primary user to the admin group. load the game logged in from the primary user, go to the directory and change ownership from administrator group to the primary user, then remove the user from the admin group. i think it's lame but thats what i did.
