Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2

Has anybody been able to get this game to run successfully? I would really appreciate any input that gets me any further than I am now. Whenever I go to start the game I get this error

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate this application."

I am running Windows 2000 with SP1 on an Asus K7V, 700 Athlon, 128 MB RAM, DirectX 8, and a Viper v770 with 6.31 drivers.

Hey...I've been able to get into THPS2 fine, but annoyingly it is squished about 2 inches skinnier than my monitor. There is a black empty space running down the left side of my monitor where they game should be. This happens in Half-Life too. I am running a Ati Rage Fury 128 at 1152x864 @ 70hz. I have a 17" CTX VL700 monitor. I have tried lowering the resolution to the same as the game and still the problem. I am running Win2k Pro and have the latest DirectX (8.0 not the 8.1 betas) and latest Win2k drivers for everything.

That is your monitor's vertical and horizontal positioning and sizing that is producing those bars.

Aqua-sounds like a refresh rate problem. Just use Dxdiag to maybe force all directx games to use one set refresh rate like 85hz.

Hey guys, that above link is/was to my server [lucky I saw this]. I no longer have the school connection, so that server is gone, but I'm putting it up on my web site now. It's hosted in the UK, so a US d/l may be slow, but it's a strong server, so just keep pulling it.
