High Heat 2002 in Win2k

Recommended Posts

Hi, after talking to my high heat buddies at the message board, I have concluded that most everyone can run the game in Win2k, but not without some serious sound problems (skipping, looping, etc.). They all had a soundblaster live card, and the latest drivers for all. I wish there were email addresses on this page where the game is listed so I could email the people who reported no problems (#1 and #5). I would like to know their system specs and stuff. I don't have Win2k loaded on my machine at the moment and unfortunately I don't think I will if there are problems with this game. frown

I would love for someone with a similar setup as mine report no problems. smile But, I don't think it's going to happen....anyway, if anyone has tried this game in Win2k, I would really appreciate a reply here telling how it went.

Thanks!

Brad

I heard there are issues with the VIA chipset and Soundblaster Live!

I know I'm going to sound stupid...but, what the heck is the VIA chipset that people talk about? I think it's got something to do with your motherboard, but I'm not really sure. I don't think I have one though. smile

Did you or did not say this ?, "but not without some serious sound problems (skipping, looping, etc.)."

As SBLive & VIA it funny ALi nor SiS chipset don't have this problem so go fig "far I know".

But ask me I think maybe a DMA problem but then againe it could very well be this junk ACPI I beat all your card are on one IRQ rigth ?.

Yes VIA chipset is on your motherboard.

VIA Hardware recommend the Santa Cruz soundcard instead of SB Live!

I have a SB Live! and am experiencing problems - why should I get the Santa Cruz instead?

If you own a SBLive! and are experiencing the following symptoms:

- Sound crackling

- DMA issues

- Sporadic system hangs

then you have a very good chance of alleviating these issues by changing your sound card to a Santa Cruz.

I don't have any problems with SB Live! in Win2k. May be because I have Intel Chipset.

My system spec:

Abit SA6R (Intel 815e chipset)

PIII-933

PC-133 512mb

Geforce2 GTS

SB Live! X-Gamer
