could chose from; sound one was chosen. The Design Team is working to

refine the chosen sound based on the survey feedback. More information

=== Daniel Holbach: Making Ubuntu development more personal ===

By looking into ways to make the Ubuntu Development process more

personal Daniel Hlobach discusses some observations and suggestions

for improvement.

The observations about development in Ubuntu which Holbach lists

include: working hard on improving documentation, working on improving

the tools, somebody is always around to answer questions, getting

better at doing code reviews and providing feedback.

However, even with all this hard work and improvements it was noted

that even more needed to be done. A Developer Advisory Team was

created to reach out to: new contributors and thank them for their

work as well as get their feedback; individuals who might be ready to

apply for upload rights and help them through that process; formerly

active contributors who are now inactive, get their feedback and offer

help.

For those who want more information on this process or want to get

involved Holbach gives the contact information in the full post.

=== Brian Murray: Where are the bugs? ===

Brian Murray of the Ubuntu Foundations Team at Canonical has created a

chart view of bug tasks opened against a package by team--currently

Foundations, Desktop, Server, X-Swat are the views available--for

those which have been opened in the past seven (7) or fourteen (14)

days. Murray also says he will create these for other teams if they

would like them. More information about this tool and to see how the

chart is displayed see Murray's post.

=== Michael Hall: Swimming Upstream: What to do next with your Quicklists ===

In this post Michael Hall encourages developers to submit their

Quicklist upstream. He notes in his post that while Unity may be the

default desktop for Ubuntu it's also been ported to ArchLinux and

[open]SuSe. Hall says Unity is also making its way to Fedora as well,

so submitting your Quicklist upstream not only helps Ubuntu but other

distro's as well.

The steps Hall includes to achieving this are: Find your upstream,

Talk to your upstream, Submit your changes, Update your merge

proposal, Stay involved with your upstream.
