" Bugfest! Win2000 has 63,000 'defects'

"Urging developers to clean up their code, a Microsoft exec says: 'How many of you would spend $500 on a piece of software with over 63,000 potential known defects?' It ships Thursday. "

This sucks <A HREF="http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2436920,00.html?chkpt=zdnntop"" TARGET=_blank>http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2436920,00.html?chkpt=zdnntop"</A>

This is news?? Hell I knew this when I first heard they were designing 2000 a couple of years ago.

Commercial software has on average 1 bug per 1000 lines of code. With 40 Mill. lines of code in WIn2k the estimated number of bugs (known/unknown) is around 600,000 !! So a few thousands that they know off is just the begining.

I just hope when I buy Windows 2000 this Thursday that it will atleast operate like the final build is at this moment smile I don't want it to become like 98. I must have seen " KERNEL32.DLL ERROR " over 1,000 times with 95 and 98. I don't want to see this with Windows 2000 frown But I was expecting some bugs but not 63,000! I shouldn't be so quick to come to conclusions smile I still have faith that it will operate well when I do my format of my primary drive smile

Bugs? Bugs? What bugs? I've been running win2k 2195 for a long time and I can't find any signifigant bug thats OS related. They must've been snorting alot of crank if they see that many bugs...

Bwahaha, maybe it's true ... but this bug-infested piece of OS runs much much better then the Win95 first release.

I'll stay with Win2000. It's only a few months to the Service Pack 1 which will fix most of the "defects" ...
