Can't restart after installing EZCDcreator 4.02 Patch

Recommended Posts

This just ruined my day. I installed the 4.02 patch and then I couldn't restart. The boot up process took forever and then I got a BSOD that said there was paging problems in non-paged area. I then reinstalled Win2k and then just installed EZCD creator and the patch with nothing else on the system and the same thing happened. ARGH!!

Oh great frown

I was just about to install this, think I'll wait for a bit more feedback over a general area before I go installing it.

Anyone else had similar things??

i installed yesterday ezcd creator 4.00 and after the patch 4.02 and everything is ok. Watch for these:

1] Win2k clean install

2] ASPI latest 4.60

3] there are 2 patches; one for EZcd creator standard and one for the deluxe version! (i have the deluxe)

4] maybe uninstall (hacked) direct CD 3

Yeah, I did a clean install, got the Deluxe patch for the Deluxe installation and didn't have DirectCD3 installed. I didn't check for the ASPI but is it really necessary? Actually, I'm just waiting for the Direct CD patch to come out because EZCD Creator 4.01 works fine for my HP 9200i so I'm not going to risk breaking this install anymore with another patch. Hopefully the DirectCD patch won't do the same!

I've just installed the deluxe update, but didn't reboot because I was working on something, so I checked out the forum, and started to panic when I read that people couldn't restart.

So, after my download finished, rebooted...

and everything worked fine.

I had the Win2k ASPI layer installed, and the hacked DirectCD 3.0.

Just thought I'd add that to the mixer. smile

Had BSOD too...restored from Drive Image 3

so got out of the woods. Somewhere along the line a critical file is the problem. in the /windows(winnt)/system32/drivers folder find cdr4vsd.sys. If 401 patch or whatever has made this version 2.50.80, you need to get back to the 2.5.0.75 version from your original install disk (do a search), replace the newer one with this one, then run the 402 patch. This was my solution, hope you are also as successful.

evil homer you have DIRECTCD working in win2k?

if so how did you get it to run?

i miss this program.

i have easycd creater 4 deluxe and well it sucks in win2k.

deluxe 4 will not let me copy cd's from my toshiba scsi 12x at any speed but it tests the drive as good upto 12x for copying.

i had this proble before with my toshiba 4x scsi when creater 3.0 came out.

i think adaptec hates toshiba.

i went back to easy cd creater 3.5c its always worked perfect for me.

Well, I can't remember where I got it from now, as I had it working under RC2 ages ago.

All I did was install DirectCD 2.5 from EZCD 4 cd, then you copy the hacked DirectCD 3.0 files over the top into the relevant directories. I'm sure not before long Adaptec will release the official version soon.
