tristan 0 Posted March 25, 2000 Ok, I've tried to get this to work but apparently it's much harder than in win98. I wanna share a folder on my local network. Anyone should be able access it using a password. Anyone know how to do it? In win98 all you had to do was to mark the folder, click sharing and enter a password. I guess it's not that simple anymore eh? Share this post Link to post
Ekstreme 0 Posted March 25, 2000 Have you tried reading the windows help files?? Often a great place to start! First of all, you have to get your head around user permissions. Right click my computer and select manage. then click local users and groups/users. You can either add the win98 users login and pass in here, or you can simple enable the guest account. Once you've saved that, go to the folder/drive whatever and select properties. There is a sharing tab there, you can't miss it! ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012.003 beta) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.81) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Epson Stylus Color 400 Dynalink V1456VQE External 56k V.90 Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!! thibs 0 Posted March 25, 2000 Hi, what you have to do is go to the folder properties then on the tab "sharing" select share this folder and set the permissions with the "permissions". If you want anyone on your LAN to access make sure to enable the Guest account which is disabled by default. Hope this helps .. ------------------ Config: Dual celeron 400 on BP6 128 Mo SDRAM PC 100 Rage fury 32Mo, SB Live Player IBM 20Go U66,DVD A103S,Yamaha 4*4*16*: IDE Win2000 Final Share this post Link to post
