Guest Posted May 3, 2000 Ok, I was under the impression that all the next operating systems from Microsoft (2k,Me,neptune) were all gonna be based on the NT kernal. Well, I just read a review on Windows Millenium and it said that it was still based on DOS. If this is so, screw it! I'm sticking with Win2k!!! Anyways, my question is.... will somebody tell me definately if WinMe is gonna be DOS based or NT based? ------------------ ********************************************** ---Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.--- ********************************************** Pentium II 450@504 4.5X112 128MB PC100 SDRAM Diamond Viper V770 Ultra Sound Blaster Live! Raze2k 0 Posted May 3, 2000 Windows Me will be (and has always been) based on the 9x-Kernel. Microsoft needed a product upgrade to bridge the time between Windows 98 SE and its next-gen consumer OS based on the NT-kernel. Share this post Link to post
Exorcist 0 Posted May 3, 2000 Windows Me will (hopefully) be the last Windows OS to be based on the old 9x DOS kernel, but it is still the old kernel, although supposedly much much better than Win98, I have yet to install this 2513 build so can't comment. Ex Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted May 4, 2000 Ok thanx! This may be a dumb question then...but.... will WinMe be able to recgonize NTFS? Or does it only work on FAT/32 Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted May 4, 2000 You can only get a Win9x operating system to work with NTFS by going to www.winternals.com. Share this post Link to post
