rolandry 0 Posted May 17, 2000 DirectCD 3.01 and McAfee 4.5 are not compatible in Win2K Pro. System reboots on startup as soon as DirectCD attempts to load. Norton Anti-Virus solves the problem. Looking for a way to make it work with McAfee. Any ideas? Share this post Link to post
BladeRunner 0 Posted May 17, 2000 Hi, Steer clear of McAfee 4.5 for Win2000, at least for the time being. We have a site license for this product, so we installed it straight onto the Win2000 machine we integrated onto our network. To say there was a performance hit is an under-statement. Doing a right-click on the desktop to get display properties results in a 30 second wait. Items on the start menu take an age to appear. We un-installed McAfee and installed Norton Anti-virus, all these problems went away and the PC's are performing how they should be. I have spoken to McAfee tech support and I'm still awaiting a call back. Paul Share this post Link to post
BacMan 0 Posted May 17, 2000 rolandry, I was driving myself crazy with this last night. My system kept restarting and for some reason I couldn't even get my system up in safe mode! This morning I got my system up with one of the safe mode options, but didn't have achange to uninstall directCD cause I had to leave for work. I thought it might have had to do with a firmware upgrade, but I guess not. I also have McAfee installed and I don't really care for it anyway. I plan on uninstalling it and going with norton. mickbench 0 Posted May 18, 2000 I agree with Bladerunner with McAfee 4.5. We have a site copy, and I installed it two W2K Machines. It was not good... Not only do the machines now take longer to boot, as bladerunnner says, the right click is painfully slow. In IE5.0 its very bad.... I just don't know what NAI have done with their software of just late... Exchange GS 4.5 is a joke. Netshield 2000 always stops the service after a scan (thats NT server 4.0 not W2K Server) and this latest 4.5 scan is not good.. Michael Share this post Link to post
