i wanna use sound... just had a sound card installed

i wanna use the internet... i have the number and everything.... just had a modem put in...also has a network card...

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. i just installed linux.. it is awesome!!!

 

I believe the sound card is a supersound 32

What type modem are you using, are you using it through the network card? You might be able to configure your sound through the drakconf program (I think that's the name of it).

i have both a internal modem and ethernet card

i use dial up on windows...

i am not using it through the ethernet card.

Just use either kppp or wvdial to dialup your isp.

KPPP is my personal favorite and it is fairly easy to use.

Open a terminal, become root and type:

 

kppp [enter]

 

If it doesn't come up, you should easily be able to find it for your distro at rpmfind.net.

You did not mention what make and model of modem that you are using. If it is a winmodem or ¨softmodem" you may still have difficulty getting it to run with Linux.

 

Did you look and see if it is supported in Mandrake, by checking the Mandrake supported hardware site?
