cryptix 0 Posted July 29, 2000 No, this should be Release. They wouldn't post a Beta or Gold Pre-Release there... Share this post Link to post
rpod 0 Posted July 29, 2000 I'd like to figure that out as well... Maybe I'll wait until it's official. Or until a couple hotfixes are released as well, which should be a day or two after its official release. [This message has been edited by rpod (edited 29 July 2000).] Share this post Link to post

STi Sev 0 Posted July 30, 2000 I would be REALLY pissed if SP1 disabled zone alarm if I was running it! I disabled zone alarm about 2-3 days ago because of lockup it was performing on my machine. ZoneAlarm 2.125 is awesome but buggy. When the bugs are fixed and the programs eats less system resources, woooowee that program will ROCK!!!!!!!!!! Share this post Link to post
DeadCats 0 Posted July 30, 2000 WTF is ZoneAlarm? and BlackIce, for that matter? Share this post Link to post
Boyd 0 Posted July 30, 2000 They are firewall programs, Deadcats. I also noticed that after I installed SP1, that I simply could not connect to the Internet or ICQ. I lowered the security setting in Zonealarm from high to medium for the Internet, and then everything worked. I'm sure Zonealarm (and Blackice)will release some kind of patch for this. Looks like M$ has tightened the security on Win2k and it seems to have affected firewall programs. Other than that, SP1 installed great. Share this post Link to post
NSX 0 Posted July 30, 2000 ZoneAlarm continues to work well after SP1 installation. I've never had a problem before either. My bro just installed SP1 and he had to uninstall ZoneAlarm. He tried to reinstall but it still won't let him on the internet. ------------------ [NSX] Share this post Link to post
g00ner 0 Posted July 30, 2000 Yep same here, couldn't connect to the net with Zone Alarm installed and SP1 running. I had to uninstall Z/Alarm and reboot before I could connect. I haven't yet tried to re-install it. Everything else *seems* fine with SP1 installed. Share this post Link to post

Selha 0 Posted July 31, 2000 SP 1 installed and 100% ok. I recommend that u all uninstall ZoneAlarm, permanently. Share this post Link to post
bionyx 0 Posted July 31, 2000 Well I have to hand it to MS: they did a great job this time. I know people are complaining about the loss of firewall protection but MS did a great job fixing the bugs in Win2k and now EVERYONE can enjoy this great OS. BTW BlackICE 2.1.22 works just fine with SP1, but ZoneAlarm doesnt. I wonder if you removed your firewall before installing SP1 and then reinstalling your firewall will help matters... pr-man 1 Posted July 31, 2000 I also did notice that when i was running WinME final, i could set the internet security to highest in zonealarm and could connect to everything fine. that must mean that winme is a very insecure operating system. Share this post Link to post
