I have no idea where you could find a RAM drive utility for Win2K unless, of course, you have a copy of DOS 6 laying around somewhere. BUT I am just curious as all get out what the heck you want a RAM drive for? smile

Maybe RamDiskNT will do the job wink

They offer an evaluation version that works 100 times and defaults to 1.44MB floppy thereafter, enought time to see if it works.

I had no time yet to try it out, could help me to decrease my time for a SETI workingunit.

oh yeah, don't forget about this:

OK, cool! How much RAM do you have on your machine, and how much are you allocating to the RAM drive? Oh, and does your RAM drive load at startup, or only when you start I.E.?

I have 256MB and sat 10MB to IE cache. It loads at startup I dont think it can be manually mounted. Maybe in a later version. Every 2 hours and when I shut down it saves the 10 MB to C:\ till next time I reboot

RamDiskNT is not free, obviously frown

so i went to MS windows support site and in their knowledge base section made a search for "ramdisk". guess what?

they have a free ramdisk.sys driver and registry configuration for win2k.

i've installed it and configured and it works beautifully smile

only one thing - it doesn't backup the image of files to hd at shutdown but then again, who cares about cache being saved if you are on a relatively fast connection.

I recommend it to everyone.

Your hard drive will thank you laugh

Just come Boy's have fun

Yes,

Ramdisk is WORKING!

(And I am adding on a FileFinder, Registry Cleaner AND also RightClick on

folders MoveFile, DeleteFile, RenameFile, and CopyFile tools tonite as well

to update it to version 9.0++...)

I think you'll really like it...

Here is the link to the 8.0++ model:

http://www.huntley.com.au/apk/APKWin2kTools4.exe

* It's #4 at ZDNet's "hotfiles" site behind Microsoft TweakUI and Norton's

PCAnywhere and Norton Utilities 2000... not bad, eh? In the "Other

Utilities" section! http://www.hotfiles.com but I think they are only

posting 7.0++ right now... I am waiting for them to update actually!

(Oh, from the direct link? You may have to use RightClick SaveAs from your

browser to download it... if you don't use tools like Download

Accelerator...)

APK

P.S.=> I'll write you when I upload the 9.0++ unit... the 8.0++ unit is nice

though, just lacks the add-ons I am finalizing tonite is all... almost 9mb

download on 8.0++... apk
