Seducer 0 Posted August 25, 2000 is it that long when u installed the directory services in WIN2K Server? around 10 - 15 minutes before it shows the "Press Ctrl - Alt - Del" to log-on.. Share this post Link to post
INFERNO2000 0 Posted August 25, 2000 I've read many about many similar problems and solutions. All deal with penny haircuts, El Niño, that frat party that everyone missed, Elmo's nosehairs, and a bottle of bourbon. But, no matter what the solution was, the answer was always the same. No. It does not take that long I use Advanced Server all the time, and it takes maybe 15 seconds from opening bluescreen to ctrl alt del. Share this post Link to post

INFERNO2000 0 Posted August 26, 2000 First, what are the specs on your machine? Most importantly, CPU, mobo, RAM, etc.? You said directory services...I'll have to check on that--I personally don't use it...I didn't notice that in the first statement. By this do you mean active directory? If so, I beleive reading a long time ago, that that DOES in fact increase load times....but I don't remember it being that long. If that is the case, and you are using directory services, then I would suspect that the long boot time is normal...but do NOT quote me on that. Share this post Link to post
Ryo-Ohki 0 Posted August 26, 2000 I'm curious to know how many machines are on your network, and their status on it (child domain controllers, or just workstations). I've found that to decrease the amount to time you have to wait, I had to turn off all the child domain controllers. Share this post Link to post
