Avalance 0 Posted August 30, 2000 I can't play VCDs at all in win2k!! It doesn't halp to copy the file to the harddrive first either.... I've tried the preinstalled MediaPlayer 6.4 and ASUS-DVD with the same result. I've also tried reinstalling Win2K. Both programs can play VCDs in Win98 withput any problems....... Svision 0 Posted August 30, 2000 it seems to be the SP1 problem. my vcdz stopped playing after i applied the update. INstalling clean win2k without sp1 allowed them to be played again with no probs. Share this post Link to post
DFB 0 Posted August 31, 2000 Not really a good solution, but this may be helpful. Try going to www.vcdgear.org It allows you to convert from dat to mpg (among other things) Share this post Link to post
Seducer 0 Posted August 31, 2000 Mine is working even if the SP1 was installed. Im using a MoviePlayer software.! Share this post Link to post
nagual 0 Posted August 31, 2000 no probs playing .dat .avi .avi(divx) .mpg or whatever.. with or without sp1 Share this post Link to post
Avalance 0 Posted August 31, 2000 I have never installed SP1, so that can't be the problem... Anyone have any other ideas...? There can't be anything wrong with the hardware, since I'm able to play VCDs in Win98... I must also point out that it is ONLY VideoCD's (.dat) that doesn't work... MPEG, AVI and DIV-X works fine...
