NSX 0 Posted July 30, 2000 Back in the Win95/98 days, there was an option to remove the backup files for pre-SP installations in the Add/Remove Programs area incase something went wrong. There is no option for the just release SP1 for Windows 2000. How do I remove the backup files SAFELY? (Is it safe to just erase the hidden \WINNT\$Nt*.* directories?) Can I just erase \WINNT\ServicePackFiles as well? Or is this directory critical after SP installation? Down8 0 Posted October 20, 2000 I even took the time to search for this answer... But, it didn't really get answered. I installed SP1 on my new Win2K install, and I don't remember being asked if I wanted back up files. I don't need them, as I know everything is fine under SP1, but they are there and taking up 245MB, so I want to nix 'em.
