Office 2000 Pro/Win2k Server/I'm going insane!!

Recommended Posts

Well a LOT has changed since NT 4 SERVER!!!!

Perhaps once I learn all the differences I will find 2k Server easier and more flexible, but so far it's driving me nuts.

Ok here's what's going on. In an NT4 Workstation/Server environment here would be the steps to install office 2000 over the network.

1) start/run f:\setup /a

2) all files would be copied to server's administrative directory (specified)

3) once this was done, using the nt4 client, you would simply go to the network share that the setup files were sent to, and run setup, selecting the install path to a folder on the server..... only putting dlls and registry entries on the workstation.

4) Et Voila!!! Pretty Simple.

Well nowadays, things don't seem to be so easy. How in God's name do you install Office 2000 over the network in a 2k Server/ NT4 Workstation environment?

Ugh, please respond in a nice detailed step by step manner if you can... I'm tired of trying to translate everything I read about this subject. Thanx in advance!

Perhaps i should also mention a couple more things

my server is a domain controller (NT5-DOMAIN)

and my client is simply NT4-CLIENT.

I'm trying to setup a truely secure, uniformed setup for my entire network. Any help is appreciated.

my icq is 11352183

I think i'm figuring out.

You have to go through group policy in win2k.

Its not as simple as setup /a anymore.

Thanx all!
