MarksmanX 0 Posted November 19, 2000 By installing DirectX 8.0 (Windows 2000) do I override the Livewire 3.0 DirectX 7.0 drivers correct? So in other terms you don't need to download Livewire 3.0 drivers for DirectX because it's already supplied with Direct 8.0 right? Share this post Link to post
Shrink 0 Posted November 19, 2000 Not quite accurate - in fact, afaik, not accurate at all :-) DirectX8 installs MS's files that permit d3d, directdraw, directsound, directinput, etc... but do not update device drivers for individual components (e.g. sound cards, video cards, mouse drivers, etc...). If you haven't done it already, install DirectX8 and then LW3 for Win2k because the DX8 install does something funky to the directsound settings (if you have a voice modem, suddenly it becomes listed as the primary sound device). After that, install LW3 for Win2k and make sure that SB Live Wave Device is listed as the preferred playback device in control panel/sounds and multimedia/audio. ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!
