Hi everyone,

After i installed SP1 for win2k Pro (selecting to keep a backup of existing files during the installation), i realised that my hard drive had two extra folders named $UninstallServicePack and ServicePackFiles, both located under winnt folder.

After i was ensured that my system is stable i deleted the folder named $Uninstall...Everything runs ok as expected. Can i do the same with "ServicePackFiles" one?I checked many files and they also exist on other system folders such as "system" or "i386" etc.

you should probably leave them alone.... they are backups of the files installed by the service pack, much like the dllcache directory

Keep the ServicePackFiles folder. It's needed by 2000 so that you don't have to reinstall the SP like you had to in NT4. If you performed a slipstreamed 2000 install both folders will not be there.
