JoeFan 0 Posted January 19, 2001 I have a question on setting up Two Operating systems. From a Base 30 Gig drive should i partition it in 2 or should i partition 2 6 gig partitions for the os's and the rest for programs? Also why do you need seperate partitions for each operating system what problems could i have? Share this post Link to post
JimmyK 0 Posted January 19, 2001 Having partitions is mainly for protection. For example say you have 4 partitions. 2 Partitions are used for OS's 1 for apps and games 1 one for MP3's and videos and as we all know hard drives can go bad and get corrupted quite frequently. But with seperate partitions you will most probably only lose 1 partition and the other 3 will be intact. Plus they can be different formats IE your win2k isntallation can be on a NTFS partition making it much more secure and customizable, while ur 9X based operating system is installed on the default fat32 format. Those are the main advantages. Share this post Link to post
