He states that Unity has been designed with an emphasis on scalability, with design conforming to all sorts of form factors. With Unity 8, present in Ubuntu phone and tablets, he believes that Unity has come a step closer to "true convergence." Android's AudioFlinger had been used for playing back and recording audio. Starting with a recent build nightly release will talking directly from PulseAudio to ALSA, or the Android audio HAL when necessary. This means new work for porters. http://voices.canonical.com/user/128 === Alan Pope: Core Apps Hack Days Part 2 === Alan Pope announces a second round of Hack Days to occur the 2nd and 9th of September from 09:00 UTC to 21:00 UTC. Pope writes that as Ubuntu Touch 13.10 is due to be released in October the need to get core functionality across all core apps production-quality by the release date is essential. Apps will be paired each day to get through all 12 in half the time.
