Routing in WIN2k

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just cannot get it to work!

I have a win2k adv server, with 2 nics.

A win95 pc and a 98 one.

server = 10.1.1.13, 255.255.0.0

win98 = 10.1.1.1 , 255.255.0.0

win95 = 10.1.1.25 , 255.255.0.0

TBH, i havent a clue wot i`m supposed to do, ne one have a guide or something?

i`ve messed around with the settings in routing, but only screw up networking smile

I figured since i get netcards for nothing, this`ll be the cheapest way to make my network 100mbs!

Any help will be much appreciated.

You're running a multi-thousand dollar OS, and you're worried about being CHEAP with your network!??!?? Damn!!!

Have you checked the Windows 2000 Advanced Server manual? It has a section on this topic.

What are you trying to do.

Internet sharing? If so are you using illigal or legal addresses internally?

Routing between domains?

Are there any other computers that need the Win2K server for routing i.e. Unix boxes or network appliances?

Do you need set IP addresses?

Do you need The range you have specified.

Ok, b4 i start, this is an OS i`d never buy, so M$ aint losing anything.

I have a dodgy copy, obviously smile

Its summat to play with n pass some time away, and hopefully learn something.

I have 3 comps.

I have 2 nics in the server

and two win9x pcs.

I need them both to be able to see each other, through the server.

I would like to keep my ip addys in the 10.1.1 range, if possible.

I really appreciate any help u can give smile

First off, don't go ADV server =) (takes up extra resources), Servers good enuff if u don't know what ur doin. 2ndly.. ur 10.10etc network is a class A, so default submask is 255.0.0.0, If you change the numbers after it subnets the network so different ips will be on different networks. 3rdly after u set up the configs try pinging each other

if u get a reply cool. Oh yeah.. i assume you have all 3 computers plugged up to a HUB too =P..
